Television

All but a handful of American households had a television set and the few without were pensioners living in rooming houses (Table 31). Sixty-three per cent of British households had a television set in the house or had access to one regularly; individuals living alone had fewer, only 40 per cent. Pensioners living under the same roof as others, usually couples and individuals living with married children, had greater access to television programmes.
